Conflict English free essay sample
Strife is the genuine trial of an individualââ¬â¢s inward quality and comprehension, experiencing struggle can bring out a person to reevaluate their qualities, ethics and beliefsââ¬â¢, remaining genuine is the most ideal approach to manage the ill will. It is through this that social request can fall apart into struggle and political agitation without breaking a sweat; it is a dread of distinction and isn't in every case simple to recognize the blameless from the liable in challenging circumstances. Strife can be the battle between the heroes or opponents against nature, conflicting feelings or restricting powers, controlling a person to satisfy the craving of oneââ¬â¢s unmeasured fire. Applying an overall and insistent profundity into the idea of inside and outer clash, the writings Othello formed by Shakespeare and 1984 contrived by George Orwell, pulls in the crowd to see, feel and experience the convincing turmoilââ¬â¢s that eject. The results of racial segregation, the differentiating of a vote based system and an authoritarian culture, reality and derealisation, alongside the ill will and force to look for vengeance and equity, to upgrade the crowds comprehension and understanding of these contentions. Enviously is the fixation and tension, the field possed into a ghost of interior clashes, a snare of a world directed by negative feelings, instabilities and fears, contaminating a pestilence upon a victimââ¬â¢s personality and genuine ethics to manage an offensive clash. Shakespeare inspires the fancy of desirously through the light Othello, over the foreseen ghost of Desdemonaââ¬â¢s and Cassioââ¬â¢s betrayal. The clever Iago builds up a fine art of contention to emit, this is featured inside, O, be careful, my ruler, of desire! It is the green-looked at beast, which doth mock the meat it benefits from. The prime instigator of contention is inward weakness and dread, the fixation of enviously ruins Othelloââ¬â¢s mental rational soundness. The imagery speaks to Othelloââ¬â¢s bleak inside feelings, a spector sneaking inside his brain and soul, controlling this victimââ¬â¢s genuine qualities and ethics. Iagoââ¬â¢s discourse is profoundly amusing, featuring Othelloââ¬â¢s variations, the root to this disaster, to additionally deceive this illuminator. The responder recognizes that Othello is prominently unreliable about his own characteristics and marriage, the vagueness becomes ridiculousness as the mental disappointment devours inside this casualty, provoking an epileptic fit to emerge. The enviously gives off an impression of being a tiger that tears its prey as well as its own furious heart. The ability to define decisions is tricky, which incited the passing of Iago, Emilia, Desdemona and Othello, it isn't love that is visually impaired, yet enviously, it is the inside clash that inundates and tears away Othelloââ¬â¢s human sole. The contention strikes the crowds feeling of the human condition. The corruptive idea of desirously uncovered Othelloââ¬â¢s genuine interior shortcoming to manage strife, this is involved among Winston Smith as he battles with the inward fight to separate among the real world and derealisation in the impression of the authoritarian culture which devours this casualty. The catastrophe can be deciphered as the watcher being compelled to go up against its own human delicacy in seeing the occasion of the play. The inner clash of enviously is silly and requires non considerable proof to trigger it, yet is a part of being human, passing on that the more noteworthy the adoration the more prominent the potential for desirously to eject, inspiring a control upon ones qualities, ethics and convictions. Frequently the most burdensome, tempting and drawing in cases concerning what we are aware of and the idea of the cognizant subject are those associated with the feeling of memory and reality. George Orwell drenches and distinguishes the impermanence of the truth, derealisation and the presence of certainty through memory to impart the inside mental clash; an individual is stood up to with when this basic human belonging is controlled to figure an apparition and misshaped truth. ââ¬Å"We will press you unfilled and afterward fill you with ourselvesâ⬠ââ¬Å"It is difficult to see reality aside from by glancing through the eyes of the Partyâ⬠There are no principles or guidelines for who will endure strife and who will be decimated from its power. The tangible subtleties of touch and sight upgrades the feeling that Big Brothers controlling government controls every interior part of a person. The current reality will be acclimated through the partyââ¬â¢s laws, conventions and ideologyââ¬â¢s, twisting reality and all the validness disclosed inside life. The crowd passes on that as derealisation upgrades the adjustment in the observation or experience of the outer world gives off an impression of being offbeat and incredible; the earth looks like a nonattendance of suddenness, passionate shading and profundity, differentiating to the validness of the real world. The mental associations between Winston Smith and Othello are defined through the inside fight to remain consistent with guiding principle, ethics and convictions when managing the hostility. The contention of the gathering being empowered to control and control the experiences of the past, defining a changed present truth while stifling the brains of guiltless people emits. The interior quality and comprehension of Winston Smith gets involved and assimilated through the force and controlling power of the partyââ¬â¢s purposeful publicity. Racial predominance is negligible shades of the creative mind that penetrates people by cheapening their character and segregating there exemplification from society. Inside the play Othello a greatness is passed on that the idea of nationality is obtained to isolate and elevate strife corresponding to the unique situation, among the person by bringing out regard for immaterial contrasts of skin tone. Indeed, even now, presently, very now, an old dark slam is tupping your white eweâ⬠ââ¬Å"Moorâ⬠The racial clash and meanings partners Othello with a Barbary hose through creature symbolism, corrupting this casualty to the degree of an appalling, abhorrent creature, downgrading the status, respect, worth and rank of this person. The racistââ¬â¢s comments and perspectives actuates Othello to be beguiled of Iagoââ¬â¢s piercing goals. The imagery uncovered societyââ¬â¢s point of view of a dark man, implying the term ââ¬Å"moorâ⬠over and over to communicate the s upremacist perspectives of the Elizabethan time. The responder deciphers that albeit an influential man in the political setting, race constrains this casualty to be seen as second rate in a white manââ¬â¢s society. Iago can deceive and control Othello at a reliable premise because of the condition that he is uncovered among. It tends to be seen inside Othello and 1984, social request can disintegrate into political agitation without breaking a sweat, when an individual can't separate between the blameless from the liable in circumstances of contention. The interior frailties and vulnerabilities enticed this tyrant, inundated by an internal shortcoming; the crowd is empowered to relate the contention of bigotry inside society alongside the psychosocial harm it can create. Racial clash, anyway unpretentious, is rarely innocuous, it can and has disastrous outcomes. George Orwell uncovered the prevailing articulation that an authoritarian culture constrained by a political plan powers a contention and control upon the past, present and the future, compelling the social request of the extremist plan to crumble without breaking a sweat. Older sibling is watching youâ⬠ââ¬Å"Who controls the past controls the future, who controls the current controls the pastâ⬠This figures a threatening sentiment of an abhorrent or horrible condition through the tangible detail. This is rehashed, strengthened and distinguished among the character Winston Smith, agreeing his mental fight to manage the consistent strains and aspiration to opportu nity, freedom and popular government, along the control upon the past, present and future that ejects inside the challenging society. The responder distinguishes the intense clash inside the setting as the command authority covers reality that the chronicled records and print media, is by and large perpetually created and custom fitted to adjust to the governmentââ¬â¢s current position, further improving the Partys control over the individuals. The nullification of relational connections, the pulverization and sabotaging of families, and the evacuation of every single charming feeling, sentiments of dispute and disappointment makes boundless frailty and instability, which the Party endeavors to support a shared enthusiastic connection to Big Brother. As an outcome the social request gets twisted into an apparition of a controlled genuineness. Spoken to through the contention inside the unique circumstance, the directing Big Brother inside nineteen eighty four, alongside racial separation in Othello retains compatible likenesses, while the people Othello and Winston Smith accord the inward feeling to challenge the unrivaled, battling the appropriate for opportunity and salvation, so as to keep the social request from weakening. George Orwell exhibits and shows the various manners by which the gathering acquires and keeps up power in Oceania to make corruptive clashes and results inside society. Controlling people to see the point of view that the gathering is honest when conceal behind a liable soul, to inundate people, for example, Winston Smith into a universe of mistreatment, foul play and abuse. Life is once in a while without struggle, it is an unavoidable piece of being human, there are no standards for who will endure and who will be decimated by its power, anyway remaining consistent with basic beliefs is the most ideal approach to manage its corruptive nature. Through the writings Othello and 1984, co

Different nations of the world has mentioned NASA to give them an API (Application programming Interface ) or a port from which they can import the climate information of NASA into XML design into their nearby servers after which they can utilize the it for their nations climate estimating. The different framework improvement strategies including the well known Software Development Lifecycle technique, Iterative strategy and Rapid Application Development techniques were broke down to pick the best procedure as per NASA necessities. Over the span of the examination it was seen that Rapid Application Development strategy works best when you have times and budgetary impediments just as when you are appointed a constrained however first class programming assets. The main thing that should be kept up is that all the colleagues cooperate and there is We joined to the item/venture improvement as opposed to I , in light of the fact that I word in these kind of little group can turn into a major peril of losing a couple of good colleagues by and large. The report additionally incorporates the standards, real factors and fantasy of the Rapid Application improvement Paradigms. It was seen that the timetables and the venture cutoff times can be accomplished sooner in a productive manner by utilizing Rapid Application advancement technique and RAD venture executed and actualize in any event the double the speed and a fraction of the time taken by the standard Software improvement Life cycle. It was finished up from the investigation that Rapid Application Development will frame the future spine of programming industry as a result of its adequacy, less turn of events and execution time and greater adaptability. Writing REVIEW Effect OF RAD ON SOFTWARE INDUSTRY Prior to beginning our conversation on RAD, let us investigate what Agile Methodology is and a short outline of its history and proclamation What is Agile Software Development? Readiness is more demeanor than process, more condition than system (Jigh Highsmith , April 6,2004 , Agile Project Management : Creating Innovative Projects ) Coordinated Software Development is a lot of programming improvement Methodologies dependent on iterative turn of events, where necessities and arrangements advance through joint effort between self sorting out cross capacity group. As indicated by (HighSmith, 2002) Agility is the capacity to both make and react to change so as to benefit in a tempestuous business condition. Nimbleness is the capacity to adjust adaptability and soundness. Spry Modeling depends on an assortment of standards, got from the standards of Agile Alliance, for example, significance of expecting effortlessness when you are displaying and grasping change when you are working, since necessities do change in future (Scott Ambler , 2002 , Agile Modeling: Effective practices for outrageous programming and the brought together procedure, Wiley) History and Manifesto of Agile programming improvement The meaning of the light-footed programming advancement system began advancing in mid 1990s as a piece of solid resistance against the previously existing norm, smaller scale oversaw utilization of Waterfall Model for improvement. There were substantial expense and time plans accelerations in Waterfall Model in view of the freezing of configuration stage first and afterward firing up with the turn of events and execution stages. Why Gender Equality Ruining Everyoneââ¬â¢s Happiness Free Essays
The ââ¬Å"Is equality ruining your marriage?â⬠by Suzanne Venker is a news article how the traditional gender roles still exist in our society today and how it ruins the freedom of everyone to do each otherââ¬â¢s roles. Venker used the new research of University of Illinois to back up her article. Reading this article can open our mind to see what is the effect to everyone or marriage couple to be exact if they oppose the traditional gender roles. We will write a custom essay sample on Why Gender Equality Ruining Everyoneââ¬â¢s Happiness? or any similar topic only for you Order Now Itââ¬â¢s interesting to see how gender equality can ruin a happy marriage couple life and how mental health can take over this. I am here to take closer of the rhetorical devices the author used and how the devices took a certain effect on the audience. Also, to explain how each device links to what the author is trying to achieve. The authorââ¬â¢s effect is to change the traditional gender roles and the rhetorical devices that were used to support it were Ethos, Logos, and Pathos. The first device that supports the article is ethos. The researchers in University of Illinois examined men and women to do this research and support their argument on how marriage couples are less blissful if they struggle on traditional gender roles. The research they did suggested, ââ¬Å"When females were the main breadwinner in the family, they reported more symptoms of depression; but menââ¬â¢s psychological well-being was highest when they were the primary wage earnersâ⬠(Venker). This is to say that our human nature hasnââ¬â¢t change much about gender equality issue. We still have the belief that men can only support the family and should have a higher wage than women. Gender roles should not have a damaging impact to everyone because this is a start for gender equality. Earning a higher salary for men is very important and there is no surprise there but giving women a chance to help is a good way for family to have a content life. Men working while women stay at home has been part of our ââ¬Å"cultureâ⬠and it canââ¬â¢t change just because society changed. It will take time but giving it a change canââ¬â¢t harm anyone because our generation is way different than before and many people are more open now than before. Even now, guysââ¬â¢ weakness is when girls are a lot more up in the game when it comes to any field and to anything men do. The authorââ¬â¢s influenced for this effect is that it is time for us to experiment in gender roles because many single parent can be a mom and dad at the same time while for marriage couple, it is still unusual for their role to change. Seeing everyone in this nature for generation has been stuck to us and hard to adjust if we want gender equality in and out of our homes. What important is for everyone to open up and try to change this nature and gain self-confident in each other. Doing what you want to do in life can gain as a self-worth and can make us feel worthy in life. Putting our emotion to something occasionally can be bad and good sometimes because emotion is a feel that we canââ¬â¢t control from time to time. The pathos for this is, ââ¬Å"Americans are forever being told that ââ¬Å"gender equalityâ⬠- which is no longer defined as equal opportunity but as male and female interchangeability- is the only road to a happy lifeâ⬠(Venker). How to cite Why Gender Equality Ruining Everyoneââ¬â¢s Happiness?, Papers

Changes- Tupac Shakur Influences on Society free essay sample
We talk a lot about Malcolm X and Martin Luther King Jar. , but its time to be like them, as strong as them. They were mortal men Like us and every one of us can be like them. I dont want to be a role model. I just want to be someone who says, this is who am, this is what I do. I say whats on my mind. Outpace Muar Shaker (T. I. P). This quote was spoken by one of hip-hops most legendary idols, Outpace Shaker. Outpace has become an Integral Icon of the hip-hop culture and will live on eternally through his dynamic lyrics and poems. Most of Tubas raps concerned growing up around lenience and hardships In ghettos, and racial inequality in the United States. He experienced many of these factors growing up, especially race related issues. For Instance, on October 1991, Outpace was stopped by two officers for allegedly jaywalking. We will write a custom essay sample on Changes- Tupac Shakur Influences on Society or any similar topic specifically for you Do Not WasteYour Time HIRE WRITER Only 13.90 / page When he responded with a profanity, he was choked and beaten severely (All eyes on me). Tubas lyrics always went deep into the meaning of many political and social subjects including violence, and that is what sparked the initial response of his song, Changes. The purpose of this song was to state how everyone knows hat racial violence and Issues on the streets would never change. It shows how people have to succumb to the fact that there will always be poverty, racism, police brutality and violence in the world. This is reiterated by the lyric, Some things will never change. This song went straight to number one on the charts in many countries In Europe and around the world. This resulted In Outpace galling a broader and more receptive audience to his controversial lyrics. So imagine if Outpace had used a different method to get his message across, for example, just writing the lyrics thou music or creating a photo collage. Not only would the audience change but the message would also be effected by the deference In mediums. Transmutation refers to the process of responding to cultural texts In a range of sign systems-?art, movement, sculpture, dance, music, multimedia communication, and so on (Reading Online). Leonard Sicilian highlights the importance of engaging In transmigration when writing: Digital Information comes in multiple forms, and students must learn to tell stories not Just with words and numbers but also wrought images, graphics, color, sound, music, and dance. There is a grammar and literacy to each of these forms of communication. Bombarded with a wide variety of Images regularly, students need sharp visual-interpretation skills to Interact with the media analytically. Each form of communication has Its own rules and grammar and should be taught in ways that lead students to be more specific and concise in communicating (Utopia). So remediation a text through a different tool ultimately will change the way it is communicated to its audience. For example, Imagine the oratory medium that Outpace used to convey his hit song, Changes was instead only a written form of the lyrics. This traditional technology would not only affect the message behind the song but the audiences acc eptance of it. The second way I have communicated this song is visually. I have constructed a collage of what I thought the song was trying to convey. This leaves area for the original message to be Interpreted differently among each Individual and losing sight of the originality of it.Although these mediums are proper for some texts, I think that OFF I began my remediation process by handwriting the first verse of the song, Changes. By doing this, the audience must then adapt to the new medium. Reading the lyrics of the song instead of hearing it changes the way that it is received. More people are likely to not be introduced to the writing simply because it has been transferred from auditory to written. As a song it has exposure to the wide, variety of people that enjoy listening to music.Written on a piece of paper would affect who has access to read it causing the audience to shift from music lovers to people that just so happen to come in to contact with the text. Since it was originally presented as a song, reading the piece of work takes away the strength of the song, which is portrayed through the powerful voice of Outpace Shaker. When he raps this song, it demands the listeners attention because of the controversial lines and the way that it is spoken. Most rappers choose to rap about their money and cars while, Outpace used his words to try and make a difference. He bought much needed attention to important issues, such as racism. On the other hand, there is one key benefit to the remediation of this song. If it originally were only meant to be read, people would be able to focus more on the underlying theme of the song. The audience would not be blurred by the music in the background and could listen to its true meaning. When people think of music, they often associate entertainment with it, causing the artists lyrics to be downplayed. Presenting the song so that it is only read can ensure that the reader is affected by the lyrics.Having the lyrics distributed on paper will also help it reach a variety of people. People that may not enjoy listening to rap music, would have the opportunity to Judge the lyrics by its context not its genre. Although, remediation the song and presenting the lyrics of it changes the audience, I believe it aids in expressing its meaning. My experience of transforming the song into a collage was harder than I expected. I chose an overall background that pictured Outpace Shaker surrounded by newspaper clippings with headlines such as, When Guns Replace Words.I chose to incorporate this picture because it depicts the gun violence described in the song. Also shown is a picture of police officers fighting off a crowd. This shows their brutality towards the people. Another picture I put into the collage was of people protesting for change. They want to be heard and they demand change. Their way of achieving this is by protesting while Tubas way is through this song. While I looked for pictures that matched the song, I also tried to ensure that they expressed the deeper meaning that Outpace was trying to get across.I did not Just want to select a picture simply because the word was used in the song. I saw this as a problem because if Changes was an image that is exactly what would happen to the song. People would view the collage differently and the meaning would change. Outpaces originality would be gone and the effectiveness of the song would deplete. Of course, the main factors expressed in the song would be understood but the underlying issues discussed may be overlooked. I do believe that there is a risk for leaving a piece open for the public to discuss versus having someone directly state it.Although having the song presented s a collage gives the audience an unlimited amount of ways to interpret it, this is also one of its beneficial factors. When people are able to give their own opinions and thoughts about something, they are able to open their minds to new ideas and about a subject more in depth. A picture is worth a thousand words and therefore, more problems explained in the song are more likely to be unmasked because of an image. While experimenting with these two remediation, I learned some very important things; the way something is communicated changes its audience and affects the verbal message.

Arab-Israeli conflict essays
Arab-Israeli conflict essays September 11th was one of the main examples on how foreign policy is always changing and in most moments contradicting. Preceding these attacks, Pakistan had been considered a rogue nation . Yet, after this tragedy, America saw the urgency of which they needed Pakistans alliance in the war on terrorism. Pakistan is bordering Afghanistan, whose government has been blamed for the terrorist attacks. In previous years, as stated before, America had placed Pakistan on the list of rogue nations. The reason for such action was because of its millenarian dictatorship, and its stubbornness in the conflict over Indian- controlled Kashmir. Another reason for such conflict with Pakistan would be the way that the leader of that nation came into power. General Pervez Musharraf came into power through a military coup in October 1999. Soon after these attacks Musharraf had suddenly been in favor of the idea to assist in the war on terrorism. This change had been completely unforeseen due to the fact that Pakistan is a Muslim nation and usually these types of nations defend one another. America realized the geographical importance of its support. Pakistan lies bordering Afghanistan and it would serve as a crucial location from which to attack Afghanistan. In order to soften the Pakistani government to bend for the American government was by donating $1.1 billion to help Pakistan solve the problems it has with debt. Also, all sanctions that had been previously placed on Pakistan were lifted. The Bush administration also made it clear that assistance from the Pakistani government in the war against terrorism was anticipated. In return, The United States expected the Pakistani territory to be accessible to the military. The government also wanted Pakistans Inter-Services Intelligence Directorate to serve as a conn ection to the Taliban and to also provide America with information on the whereabouts of the most wa...

Jfk Descriptive Essay Essays
Jfk Descriptive Essay Essays Jfk Descriptive Essay Essay Jfk Descriptive Essay Essay It was a beautiful morning in Texas, the skies were blue, and there no clouds in sight. Parents and children were gathered along side the road to see the thrilling sight that was about to pass right before their eyes. Nobody at the parade that day could have been happier, as they watched their nationââ¬â¢s leader slowly drive past them in a large motorcade. My wife had just turned around to tell the president how much Texas loved him, when a shot rang out that changed our nation forever. The first forty-five minutes of the parade couldnââ¬â¢t have gone any smoother. Children and adults alike filled the air with their laughter and shouts of joy, while birds flew overhead and perched themselves in trees, while singing their songs. The president had just went out and bought a whole new outfit for the Texas parade. His hair was slicked back and he was looking like a million bucks. The president and his wife couldnââ¬â¢t of looked any happier together as they drove down main street in Houston with the Governor and his wife. The low, growl of the Harley-Davidsonââ¬â¢s engines drowned out all of its surrounding sounds as it passed by. Little did we know, this would all change in a blink of an eye. After passing a large, brick library on the left, a loud crack filled the air; the president slumped over in his seat. The birds stopped singing and scattered every which way; the laughter had turned to bone chilling shrills. The Harleyââ¬â¢s engines went from low growls to loud roars as they floored it to get to the hospital. The police sirens soon took over all the noises as they rushed the president to the hospital. With the convertible down and the wind filling our ears, all we could do is pray as Mr. Kennedy lay there helpless with a gunshot wound to his head. With sirens screaming everywhere, the doctors rushed out to the car with the stretcher ready to go; and then loaded Mr. Kennedy onto it. He was immediately taken into surgery to fix his gunshot wound. The world seemed to be holding itââ¬â¢s breathe to hear the news as the doctors emerged from the operating room. When the news came out that the president wasnââ¬â¢t going to make it, it felt like the whole country had fallen to its knees and stopped everything. No one knew what to do; the vice president stepped in and tried to reassure everyone but nobody could listen; their hero had died that day along with their spirits.

Thus all individuals belonging to Islam religion should not be looked upon as terrorists and tortured or killed. The paper intends to support such an argument by making a thematic analysis of some of the well known Bollywood movies picturized upon portrayal of Islam in America after the 9/11 terror attacks. The violence and bloodshed associated with 9/11 terror attacks that caused the collapse of World Trade Center was so huge that many would find it really difficult to describe. Post 9/11 attacks Arabian nationality and Islam religion have become a historical phenomenon. Media particularly Bollywood cinema has always considered portrayal of Muslims as a topic of great interest. Usin g the mass influential power of media Bollywood has taken this opportunity to make cinemas representing the Islamic followers above the villains or ââ¬Ëbad guysââ¬â¢ and has claimed for accepting the innocence of ordinary followers of Islam (Balraj). Some of the cinemas on such a theme are ââ¬ËMy Name in Khanââ¬â¢, ââ¬ËNew Yorkââ¬â¢, ââ¬ËKurbaanââ¬â¢ and ââ¬ËTere Bin Ladenââ¬â¢. Bollywood Cinema and Portrayal of Islam in America The movie ââ¬ËMy Name Is Khanââ¬â¢ directed by Karan Johar is a story of a Muslim guy named Rizwan Khan who has experienced struggles right from his childhood for his disabilities and mainly because of his identity of following the Islam religion. His journey for meeting the president has been highlighted in the movie where he encounters misbehavior and strip checking on account of being a Muslim. ââ¬ËMy Name is Khan and I am not a terroristââ¬â¢ has been the tagline of the movie appealing to the Americans to accept the innocence of followers of Islam. The theme of acceptance of innocence for the Muslims has been established in this movie at the tremendous torture and losses that Islamic people have suffered post 9/11 terror attacks. The terror incident had developed a kind of hatred for the people with Islam religion but such an anti Muslim violence hurting hundreds of innocent people have been claimed as a complete senseless act (Dhume). The overreaction of the Americans after the 9/11 terror attacks has been shown in another Bollywood movie ââ¬ËNew Yorkââ¬â¢ released in 2009 under the banner of Yash Raj Films. The torture to the innocents simply because of being followers of Islam religion has been the base of the storyline. It is true that Americans after these terror attacks have haunted hundreds of Muslim lives in the name of investigation. The torture and misbehavior in jail that has been portrayed against Islam followers in this Bollywood is intolerable even on television screen. It is a tragedy that hundreds of innocent Muslim people actually tolerated all this during conviction. Bollywood cinema has been able to gather sympathy for the Muslim people through such touching and tragic movies. Mass opinion has been in favor of the fact that treatment of Islam and their followers after such terror attacks is a national shame for Americans. The movies highlighting the political views on terrorism

Special oven baked Oolong is only an intermediate dark green. 4.0 Construction of SWOT A Situational Analysis According to David (2004, pp.156-158) no organization is equally strong or weak in all its functional areas. Objectives and strategies are established with the intention of capitalizing upon internal strengths and overcoming weaknesses. The overall evaluation of a companys strength, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats are called as the SWOT analysis. A SWOT analysis is used as a framework to help the firm to develop its overall corporate, marketing, or product strategies. Strengths and Weaknesses are internal factors, which are controllable by the company. Whereas, Opportunities threats are external factors tend to be uncontrollable by the organization. The SWOT analysis of the Watawala Plantations PLC can be illustrated as follows: Strengths Uniqueness of the product Benefits of product are outstanding and not offered by any other product/company. Brand awareness High quality tea High quality service Expertise on the tea business Entrepreneurial spirit and commitment Complete and broad trained staff Opportunities Can open new lines of business Mass market tea prices will stabilize Consumers are living a more healthy lifestyle Consumers prefer quality products that offer true value Modern technology in the tea industry will be able to increase productivity Growth in tea market due to promotional efforts of healthy attributes of tea Threats Seasonal demand Misperception of tea consumption Competition from coffee shops Limited number of raw materials Unstable tea supply of high quality tea High quality tea prices will increase moderately Tea market is very competitive and relative elastic where strong local competitors such as Lipton, Bogawanthalaweà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦etc. SWOT ANALYSIS Weaknesses Budget deficits Less access to modern technologies with to Oolong tea manufacturing process 5.0 Marketing Objectives All businesses, as a rule, need to set objectives on their own, for the products or services they intend to launch. Setting objectives are important; because they focus on specific aims over a period of time and can motivate the staff additionally to meet the set objectives. The marketing intention Watawala Plantations PLC is to grab a 10% market share and to achieve a sales volume worth of SLR 2,500,000 during the current year 2011. 6.0 Market Segmentation, Target Market and Positioning 6.1 Market Segmentation An organization cannot satisfy the needs and wants of all consumers. To do so, may result in a massive drain in company resources. Segmentation is simply the process of dividing a particular market for a good or service into sections, which display similar characteristics or behavior. There are a number of segmentation variables that allow an organization to divide their market into homogenous groups. There is no single way to segment a market. A good marketer has to try different segmentation methods, either alone or in combination, in order to view the market structure clearly. Segmentation can be categorized in to four major variables. They are geographic, demographic, psychographic and behavioral variables. It has to be clearly understood that Watawala Plantations PLC has utilized the demographic segmentation variable to divide the market. In demographic segmentation, the market can be divided in to groups such as age, gender, income, family size, family life cycle, occupation, education, race, religion, generation, nationality and social class. But here Watawala Plantations PLC going to consider only the first three groups from the demographic variables as described above. It is very much evident that in particular, the demographic segmentation variables have been chosen because of two reasons. One is that, customer wants, preferences, and usage rates are often associated with demographic variables and the other is that the demographic variables are easier to measure. 6.2 Target Market Target Market is the specific group of customers that a company aims to capture. They have been identified as the people with needs or wants that can be met with the products or services from the company. When evaluating the market segments, Watawala Plantations PLC must look at three major factors. They are segment size growth, segment structural attractiveness, and companys growth. Considering these aspects Watawala Plantations PLC has decided its target group as anybody who is interested in good quality tea. Mass market is the strategy of the company aiming to sell their product to broad market in Spain. 6.3 Positioning After an organization has selected its target market, the next stage is to decide how it wants to position itself within that chosen segment. A products position is the complex set of perceptions, impressions, and feelings that consumers hold for the particular product compared with the competing products in the market. As marketers, Watawala Plantations PLC not only plan positions that gives our products the greatest advantage in selected target markets, but also we design marketing mixes to create these planned positions. Therefore Watawala Plantations PLC is going market its Oolong Tea under its renowned positioning theme THE ART OF TEA 7.0 Macro Environmental Analysis PEST Factors According to David (2004, p.114) the purpose of an external audit is to develop a predetermined list of opportunities that could benefit the firm and threats that should be avoided. The Relationship between Key External Forces and an organization can be illustrated as follows: Therefore while formulating business strategies, Watawala Plantations PLC should be able to respond towards the external macro environmental factors in order to take the maximum advantage of external opportunities or that minimize the impact of potential threats. PEST analysis is a framework used to scan the external macro-environment, in which a firm operates. It is an important aspect to a company, in order to begin the marketing process. The following gird represents the analysis of the political, economic, socio-cultural and technological factors Watawala Plantations PLC has to consider before deciding either Germany or Australia would be potential market to expand the fruity malt loaf product. The grid below examines the political, economic, socio-cultural and technological factors with regard to the potential impact and its relative importance towards Watawala Plantations PLC. PEST Analysis Factors Potential Impact Relative Importance Political Factors Strict trading policies Medium Important Funding grants Medium Unimportant Local pressure groups High Unimportant Government policies High Important Political influence High Important Economic Factors Economic structure Command Economy prices are determined by the government Important Taxation issues Total tax rate is 64% on Profit Critical Interest rates 3.0% Important Inflation rates 9.4% Important Socio-cultural Factors Consumer attitudes High Critical Consumer opinions High Critical Media views High Important Brand image High Important Buying access and trends High Critical Health consciousness High Critical Religious factors Medium Important Technological Factors Technology development High Important Research funding Medium Important Recycling systems Medium Important 8.0 The Marketing Mix 4Ps To achieve the marketing objectives, the company has to use the marketing controllable elements (4Ps) effectively. A company might adopt one or more marketing strategies when introducing a product newly. It can set a high or low-level trend for each of its marketing variables, such as price, promotion, distribution, and product quality. Therefore, the key elements of the marketing mix namely product, price, place (distribution) and promotion have to be utilized Watawala Plantations PLC as follows: 8.1 Product A good Oolong tea is refreshing and delicious; the Oolong spectrum has a range of aromas and tastes quite different from what you get with green or black tea. It is difficult to obtain reliable figures on the caffeine content, but its probably not entirely wrong to say that the cup of Oolong average, well mixed, has about half as much caffeine as a cup of black tea and about half again as much as a cup of green tea. The difference mainly comes from the brewing temperature, not the composition of the tea itself. Although Oolong has the characteristics of black and green tea, the taste has little in common. If not overcooked, most Oolong seems almost no trace of bitterness, and generally a stronger aroma than any black or green tea. Like other tea, Oolong is rich in antioxidants called polyphenols. These help prevent cancer, keep your heart healthy and aid general well-being. 8.2 Price Price can be simply defined as the amount of money charged for a product or a service provided. A companys pricing decisions are affected either by internal factors relating to the company or external environmental factors or both. The major external environmental factor, which is going to affect the pricing decision, of Watawala Plantations PLC depends on the competitors costs, prices and their possible reactions in relation to the price fixing modes of Watawala Plantations PLC. A consumer when deciding to purchase our Watawala Plantations PLCs Oolong Tea, at the first instance evaluate the price and value of other products, which compete with Watawala Plantations PLCs products. Considering these pricing factors Watawala Plantations PLC should to apply the market penetration pricing strategy, meaning, to fix a low initial price at the introduction stage, in order to penetrate the market successfully at the outset. This is due to the fact that, it is an ideal pricing strategy which can be applied with success at the introductory stage itself, to attract a large number of buyers quickly and effectively so as to win a large market share, in a short period of time. Upon successful launch of Oolong tea, Watawala Plantations PLC can adapt skimming strategy. 8.3 Place (distribution) The distribution modes will cover all areas and all consumers coming under the target group. This is certain as the popularity grows with the demand. A competent distribution strategy will enhance the chances of attaining the goal with easy reach. Through maintaining proper contacts and application of the experience and specialization in the trade and through insuring a steady supply of goods without shortages the reach is assured with satisfactory results. Over the appointment of distributors and agents for the purpose of popularizing the product, requirements and competence in promotion, experience, market familiarity in relation to the productsà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦etc. In addition to the distributors, a careful consideration will be given towards selecting the distribution strategy. In this case an intensive distribution strategy will be utilized where it is expected to bring in quick and satisfactory results. 8.4 Promotion Promotion is one of the key elements in the marketing mix. The intention now is to inform, persuade and to familiarize Oolong tea to the market and to popularize it. In this regard sales promotion and pre publicity are two areas, which are related to public relations. To target the group, pre publicity is essential via the media namely the electronic and the print. It is through proper and efficient advertising methods, the target group mainly the consumers would be reached easily which we intend to employ. The channels, which we hope to utilize both in TV and Radio in addition to the press, will be chosen based on their popularity and result-oriented methods adopted. In this regard a careful consideration would be given to economize the expenditure for the promotion purpose. In addition to the above method e-marketing strategy will also be utilized via social media networks such as Twitter, Facebook. YouTubeà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦etc. 9.0 Proposed Marketing Budget A financial plan will be carried out since the initiation of the strategic marketing plan in order to determine the total amount of capital needed for each marketing related activity and to be completed within stipulated investment limit, which allows the marketing manager to measure the past with the forecasts actually spent during the project. Figure A illustrates the proposed marketing budget for Watawala Plantations PLC. Figure A Description Amount (SLR) Amount (SLR) Estimated Sales 10,000,000 (-) Estimated Expenses Raw Materials 500,000 Sales Distribution 400,000 Financial Expenses 200,000 HR Administrative Expenses 150,000 Production Cost 1,450,000 Promotional Expenses (posters, banners, advertisementsà ¢Ã¢â ¬Ã ¦etc.) 4,500,000 Transportation 300,000 Estimated total expenses (7,500,000) Estimated profit 2,500,000 10.0 Evaluation and Control When involving in introducing a new product into the market, it becomes necessary to plan the overall operation in advance, in addition to budgetary provision to carry forward the objective. The controlling and monitoring aspects are two areas, which need constant attention. Any deviation will tend to upset a proper implementation of this strategic marketing plan. Table 6 below shows the percentage of respondents that uses either the Adelaide public transport or use bicycle as means of transport and it is noticed that 38. 1% of the students use Adelaide public transport most days while 16. 7% hardly ever or never used the Adelaide transport and in contrast it is noticed that just 4. % of the students used bicycle most days compared to the 38. 1% that uses the Adelaide public transport while 47. % of the student hardly ever or never use the bicycle. It is noticed in the response of the students to question 6 and 7 that there seems to exist a relationship between the two mode of transport I. E. The percentage of usage of Adelaide transport reduces from most day (38. 1 to hardly ever or never (16. 7) use the percentage usage of bicycle increases from most days (4. 8%) to hardly ever (47. 6%) as shown in figure 6 below.Table 6 below shows the outcome of comparing the gender of respondents with their environmental attitudes based on whether they agree strongly to been committed to missing environmental impact and minimizing the use of paper. It is observed that there is a significant difference in the percentage of female 91. 3% compared to 72. 2% of male that said yes to minimizing the use of paper and these is further strengthen by the result shown with 30. 4% of female strongly agreeing to been committed to minimizing environmental impact while no male strongly agreed to the statement, Though majority of the male(88. %) agreed to been committed while compared to the 56. 5% of female that agreed. This result implies that females are ore inclined to be committed to minimizing their impact on the environment by participating more in minimizing their paper use When the degree enrolled in by the respondents was compared as shown in table 7 below it was observed that students enrolled in bachelor of environmental management and bachelor of Art are more inclined to going to the shop with their own containers than the remaining students enrolled in other courses. With students enrolled in bachelor of environmental management having the highest percentage that go to shopping with their own bags and container it shows that environmental attitudes of student enrolled in environmental topics have a higher tendency of participating and engaging in more environmentally friendly activities Table 8 and 9 below which compared the socio economic status of students surveyed with their environmental attitude based on their response to different question clearly shows that students with socio economic status above 1000 have a higher percentage of solar electricity and rainwater tank plumb ed to their dwelling than their counterpart with socio economic status below 1000. This implies that students room high socio economic status are more inclined to be able to afford environmentally friendly feature in their dwelling. Its is also notice from this study when the age of the respondents was compared to the number of students that use the Adelaide public transport and bicycle has their mode of transport. It is noticed that respondents aged 18 and 19 are both the highest(18. % each) user of Adelaide public transport, while respondents within the range of 36 to 57 years did not make use of Adelaide public transport at all. This may be as a result of older people having owned their personal vehicle. Conclusion This study was aimed at determining the environmental attitude and opinion of students and the effects of their degree of study, age, socio economic status and gender and on these environmental attitudes. In this study it has been observed that the degree a student is enrolled in has a significant effect on their environmental attitudes when the students take more environmental courses, because the participation in their environmental attitudes increases. As a result of the study, it could be concluded that the students surveyed generally had positive attitudes toward the environment regardless of the demographic characteristics used. Findings in this studies can be significant, because to face the challenges of environmental problem it is important to know the attitudes of students who are the potential leaders and policy makers of the future, so as to acquaint these younger generation with the necessary knowledge, skills and attitude relating to the environment regardless of their demography characteristic, because this students will affect and be affected by the environmental policies and decisions undertaken today.

A Silver Dish
Add one extra variable Into the equation, and the entire solution has hanged, Just as well If you were to take one variable out. In this essay, I will be using the butterfly effect theory to explain how events will be altered when one characteristic Is taken out of the main character, after first identifying four of his characteristics and showing how it supports the development of the story as well as his character. What does it mean to have responsibilities and what is its importance in life? Responsibility consists of the duty or obligation that one owes to another or oneself. One can direct the responsibility towards family, friends, and even God. Responsibility results in a positive character trait that shows a high degree of unselfishness. It teaches each person that there will always be something beyond themselves to care about. Responsibility can consist of moral, legal, mental or physical obligations. Woody, a businessman in Chicago, has an endless amount of responsibility. à ¢â¬Å"He [father] came to Woody In the backyard one spring day and said, ââ¬ËFrom now on you're the man of the house' ââ¬Å"(Bellow 543).At the age of fourteen, Wood's father had abandoned him, leaving Woody the responsibility of taking care of his mother and two younger sisters. He cares for his mother and his two sisters who are all mature adults. He also cares for his father and his father's wife, though he shares no blood with his stepmother. â⬠Since his wife, after fifteen years of separation had not learned to take care of herself, Woody did her shopping on Fridays, filled her freezer. He had to take her this week to buy shoes. Also, Friday night he spent with Helen- his wife De facto.Saturday he did his big weekly shopping. Saturday night he devoted to Mom and his sisters. He was too busy to attend to his own feelingsâ⬠(Bellow 541 Wood's countless obligations to his family UT him in a position of the dominant male, the caretaker. ââ¬Å"Mother and the girls tur ned into welfare personalities and lost their individual outlines. Ah, the poor things, they became dependents and cranks. In the meantime, Woody, the sinful man, was their dutiful and loving son and 561). How would the story have changed If Woody had no sense of responsibility? As a child, Woody had no choice but to take full responsibility over his family, seeing as nobody else would. During these hard times for Woody, his selfless acts were the glue that held his broken family intact. If Woody were to exile all selfless feelings from his body and replace it with pure selfish thoughts, only the worst would be in store for his family. ââ¬Å"Woody, who took full responsibility for them all, occasionally had to put one of the girls (they had become sick) In a mental 541). If Woody had Ignored shadows, known only as the crazy women you tell your children to avoid. The narrator went on to say that, â⬠he paid for heat and light and food, and dressed them all out of Sears, Roebuck a nd Webfoot's, and bought them a TV, which they watched as devoutly as they prayedâ⬠(Bellow 561). With his mother in the hospital religiously, his sister checked into a mental institution, and his other sister unable to stabilize herself or her career, Woody had no choice but to take responsibility. If he hadn't done so, knowing that his father would never step up to his responsibilities, his family would have indefinitely perished to the harsh reality of poverty.Woody had shown signs of true loyalty to his family, loyalty that will always be in existence, even for his father. Some people believe that loyalty makes one predictable. Others may say that being loyal means being unable to think for oneself. And some may even indemnify loyalty as a weakness. Loyalty is the willingness to make an investment or personal sacrifice to strengthen a relationship. Though it is rare to find, a loyal person is a valuable asset to anyone. Loyalty involves obedience, sacrifice, and compassion, a mix that is not easy to find.Family requires undoubted loyalty from family members as well as friendships require friends to convey the meaning of loyalty to strengthen a bond between one and another. A loyal man can be described as a man who sacrifices his life for his family, his friends, and even his country. In his case, loyalty will be described as Woodsy endless devotion to his father. Woodsy father had, on every occasion, let Woody down, yet he has always stood behind his father. Mimi got to lend me money to buy gasoline- the caddie money you savedâ⬠(Bellow 543).The only money Woody had been able to save up working a side job, Woodsy father had taken it as getaway cash. Woody had not hesitated upon giving his father what he had asked for, even though this meant Woody was an enabler for his father's wishes upon deserting his family. ââ¬Å"Why had he let Pop have his way? Why did he agree to meet him that day, in the dim rear of the lorry? ââ¬Å"(Bellow 549). Woodsy fa ther had return for one purpose, he needed money. Woody had decided to take him to Ms.Skulled, the woman who out of good faith, paid for Woodsy college tuition for two years to become a minister. Woody had taken a risk by bringing his father to the only person who supports him in life. What he did not expect is that his father was planning on stealing her personal belongings for extra cash. Even when his father had done so, Woody had stood by him and said, ââ¬Å"He denied that he or Pop had touched Ms. Shouldn't property. The missing object- e didn't even know what it was- had probably been misplaced, and they would be very sorry on the day it turned upâ⬠(Bellow 559).By staying loyal to his father, an admirable and rare trait, he had in fact proved himself to be deceitful and therefore disloyal to those who had supported him as he was growing up. Take one variable out of an equation, and the answer will be entirely different. Just as an equation, remove a character trait from Woodsy character, and the entire story will differ from the original. If woody had not been so loyal to his father, many things would have been different. To start, if Woody had not given his father the money to escape, His father could have never returned, believing that there was no warming welcome to accept. If he had indeed returned though, and asked Woody once more for money, I believe that Woody would have turned him down. Woody was well off in his life, entity from himself. When his father returned again, if Woody had thought in more of a selfish manner, he would have turned his father down, and would not have dealt with the pain of his supporters giving up on him. By being more selfish, Woody would have been seen as a more respectable character, without weakness for the man who mined his life. Woodsy loyalty to his father had been the variable in his life that continuously forced a downfall in his life.Loyalty is comprised of many things, but one thing loyalty does require is honesty. Honesty is another quality that is rare to find in this world, a quality that should be treasured. Honesty is the ability of being sincere, truthful, trustworthy, honorable, and fair. When you look at being honest and telling the truth it would seem as a simple task to practice. Being honest means keeping a friends secret unknown, admitting to your mistakes, and telling the truth despite the consequences. When you make a statement, make a truthful one. However, it seems that being entirely honest can be more difficult than one may perceive it to be. Woody was moved when things were honest. Bearing beams were honest, undisguised concrete pillars inside high-rise apartments were honest. It was bad to cover anything. He hated fakingâ⬠(Bellow 542). Everything in his life that Woody had been able to appreciate had been honest. Woody had tried to learn from his father's mistakes, and instead being an honest man. After bringing his father to the house of the woman who could possibly help Woody and his father with their money issue at hand, Woody witnessed his father stealing a silver dish from the kind lady. ââ¬ËBefore they come down, pop, will you dig that dish out of your long Johns. ââ¬Ë Pop turned stiff on him. He became absolutely military. He said, ââ¬ËLook, I order you! ââ¬Ë Before he knew it, Woody had Jumped his father and begun to wrestle with himâ⬠(Bellow 556) Being an honest man, Woody must go against his loyalty for his father and stop him from committing theft towards the one person who can help them. Woody does his best to be honest with everybody around him, but to be honest with one may result n dishonesty towards another. Dishonesty is a word used to describe the absence of honesty. If Woody would have been known as a man with the absence of honesty, the Woodsy life may have been altered entirely. If he had allowed his father to continue on with his theft, he would not only have felt guilty for allowing the terrible de ed to continue, he would have been an accomplice. He must have to choose a side, to stand behind his father or against him. By standing with him, it could have ignited a spark within Woody, causing him to follow in his father's footsteps as a kleptomaniac. He old have gone on to lead a life of crime, forgetting his mother and two sisters at home to starve.Truth and honesty are not easy qualities to come by, yet truth can always be found in religion. Religion can be defined as a system of beliefs, symbols, and values that provide a group of people with the solution of the question of the ultimate meaning. Religion is a way to acquire a higher feeling of self-importance. Man unites himself with the Infinite and feels ennobled. Through religion, men and woman are able to give their lives purpose. Religion is the central element in the life of civilization. Woody, immersed in Christianity, is known to be a man deeply connected to his religious roots.Woodsy religion is what put him on th e path for a new life, a path opposite of his fathers. Religion is the one source of comfort that Woody is able to find in his life. It gives to get up and tell a church full of Scandinavians that he, a Jewish lad, accepted Jesus Christâ⬠(Bellow 545). Woody testified of his faith to Christianity and went on to say that, â⬠he moved his own heart when he speak up about faithâ⬠(551). Woody had been known to the general public as a faithful Christian boy, servant to none except God. Although Woody had studied for two years in a seminary, preparing to be a minister. Two years of college during the Depression was more than most high-school graduates could affordâ⬠(Bellow 539). Without his father in his early years of life to show him the way, religion introduced him to the right path. Religion is what paid for his college tuition, taught him the meaning of honesty and how to take responsibility. Just like the rest of the character traits, take religion out of Woodsy ch aracter and the story will drastically change. Ms Skulled, out of good faith, had paid for his auction for two years in hopes of Woody becoming a minister. If Woody had chosen to be a nonbeliever, he would have undoubtedly lost his opportunity to go to college. By doing so, he could have lost his future opportunities to be able to support his mother and two sisters, as well as his father and his fathers spouse, Haling. Without religion, Woody might have not been able to find truth in the world, and therefore have no reason to be an honest, truthful person. If he had chosen the path to be free of religion, he might have not cared for being a sinner and in fact turned into his father, a gambling, stealing, irresponsible man.In conclusion, there had been many attributes that describes Woodsy character. The four character traits that I had chosen to talk about were his responsibility to his family, loyalty to his father, honesty in life, and faith in his religion. All of these characteri stics help develop their story in their own way, and I have proved this using the theory known as the butterfly effect. Change one detail in the past, and entirely alter the outcome of the future. Each characteristic helps develop the story in its own way, each critically changing the story when it had been removed from the list of his character traits.

Jefferson Memorial and the Pantheon Essays - 1347 Words
Jefferson Memorial and the Pantheon The Jefferson Memorial is a testimonial to the past, present, and future of the United States. Its architecture, like most neo-Classical buildings, gives a sense of permanence. This permanence has a history far older than many would suspect. Centuries ago and thousands of miles away a building was erected that would later become the model for which many other buildings, including the Jefferson Memorial, are based upon. This building is the Roman Pantheon. Though the Jefferson Memorial borrows the basic form and elements from the Pantheon, the Memorial has distinctive differences from its predecessor. The Memorial is located in Washington, DC in an area of the city known as The Mall (Weeks, AIAâ⬠¦show more contentâ⬠¦It is a grave mistake though, to believe that the Memorial is only a copy of the Roman model. No, the Jefferson Memorial is quite unique, and has distinctive differences from the Pantheon. The Pantheon was built in Rome under the patronage of Emperor Hadrian between 125 and 128 CE. It was originally raised on a podium but that has long been covered up by centuries of dirt and debris (Stokstad, Art History, pg. 263). Its facade was made to resemble a typical Greek or Roman temple but behind this porch lies a giant rotunda, or circular building. It has 20 foot thick walls that raise 75 feet high . . . and support a huge, round, bowl-shaped dome, 143 feet in diameter and 143 feet from the floor at its summit (Stokstad, pg263-264). Like most Roman buildings, the Pantheons surface consists of marble. Beneath the marble veneer lies internal brick arches and concrete that support the dome. The walls form a structural drum that holds up the dome. These structural elements are disguised by a wealth of architectural detail-columns, exedrae, pilasters and entablatures-in two tiers(Stokstad, pg. 264). The design of simple repetition of square against a circle . . . established on a large scale by the juxtaposition of the rectilinear portico against the rotunda(Stokstad, pg. 264-265). This repetition of square on circle is also repeated in the interior of the building. A contrasting example is Thomas Jefferson, an aspiring architect who not only designed buildings for the new America, but the American democracy with it.
